ArcSight SIEM Is the Most Deployed Enterprise Security Management Technology, According to TheInfoPro’s New Information Security Study

CUPERTINO, CA., September 6, 2006 — ArcSight, Inc., a global leader in Enterprise Security Management (ESM) software, announced today that more Fortune 1000 companies are using ArcSight ESM than any other Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) product, according to the latest Information Security Study conducted by TheInfoPro (TIP), a leading independent research network covering the IT industry. The study also found that ArcSight ESM is being piloted and/or evaluated by more companies than competing vendors, and more companies have near-term plans to implement ArcSight ESM compared to other ESM products.

ArcSight was ranked as one of the most exciting vendors across all information security technologies and twice as "hot" as its nearest competitor, according to the TIP Heat Index™. The proprietary Heat Index™ measures the immediacy of end user need, then weights that against spending data and can be found in each of TIP’s syndicated studies. Survey participants also rated ArcSight ESM as one of the top ten (out of 59 companies mentioned) most exciting Information Security technologies they have seen in the last year, along with solutions from Cisco, Microsoft and RSA.

"For the second ‘Wave’ study in a row, ArcSight was named the lead SIEM vendor," said Phil Lerner, Managing Director of TIP's Information Security Practice. "The fact that so many Fortune 1000 Enterprises reported having ArcSight ESM in-use, or are considering its solutions for new projects, illustrates that ArcSight is the market leader for ESM solutions."

The SIEM market was listed as the second "hottest" information security market according to the TIP Heat Index™ and one of the top 10 security initiatives planned for the rest of 2006. The study found that organizations will spend considerably more money on SIEM technology this year than they did in 2005. Companies participating in the study reported that correlation of log and event data was the most important requirement when selecting an SIEM system, followed by the need for legal and regulatory compliance.

"The past three ‘Waves’ of TheInfoPro’s Information Security market research show the growth of the SIEM market and ArcSight as the lead vendor in the category," said Steve Sommer, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at ArcSight. "This momentum and market opportunity quantified by this study underscores the increasing demand for our solutions and our continued leadership in Enterprise Security Management."
